New York with children: If you go to New York with children, you don’t want to miss the most important sights: The Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square, and the One World Trade Center are part of the program for most tourists in New York. But what else can you experience in New York? What is particularly suitable for and with children?
Children also love New York. There is something to see on every corner and the many skyscrapers and canyons also impress the little ones. It flashes everywhere in Times Square and you may already know the yellow taxis from television.
You can go high up on the Empire State Building, the Rockefeller Center, or the One World Trade Center. Nice for smaller children: the viewing platform at the Rockefeller center has transparent walls so that the smaller steppe can also see well here. The observation deck of the One World Trade Center opened in May 2015 and is called One World Observatory. It takes less than 60 seconds to climb the tallest building in the United States and take a journey through the history of New York.
A trip to the Statue of Liberty is of course part of the program. It also reveals a wonderful view of the Manhattan skyline. If you want to get up to the statue, you need to be in good physical shape and should definitely book in advance, because the tour is usually booked out weeks in advance. Children must be at least four feet tall to receive the Crown Ticket.
But what else can you do in New York? What do children particularly like? You can comfortably see all the sights on one of the bus tours. If you take a hop-on-hop-off bus, you can get off in between.
The Color Factory
The Color Factory is an interactive exhibition on the subject of colors. It opened in October 2018 and is located in Soho. A miniature world, on the other hand, opens up in Gulliver’s Gate. Here you can marvel at New York, but also Latin America, Asia, or Europe from a giant perspective. It’s not far from Times Square. There you can also dive into the depths of the oceans, namely in the National Geographic Encounter.
In the middle of the city, there is pure relaxation when you go to Central Park. With a width of almost 1 kilometer and a length of 4 kilometers, however, the exploration takes time and is not for children who are tired of walking. It is best to stay in the southern area. Here, too, there are some of the park’s 21 playgrounds. From the huge rocks you can enjoy the view of the surrounding buildings and in the southeast corner is the zoo. There is a wonderful nostalgic carousel not too far away. The path to the puppet theater becomes a little further in the middle of the park. or go to the boat.
The new High Line Park has been a talking point since 2009. It was built on the former elevated railway line for freight trains. At the height of the third floor, you can walk here with great views of New York. There are several stairways, so you can walk a short distance without any problems.

New York is best known for its art museums. Most of the time, children find this rather boring. You have to decide for yourself whether the Guggenheim Museum with its round ramp or the Metropolitan Museum of Art with its huge collections is something for your own children.

The American Museum for Natural History, which has many dinosaur skeletons, is definitely popular with children. Here there is the play paradise Totally Tots or the World Brooklyn, a huge grocery store like in the real Brooklyn.
On the famous Fifth Avenue, you will not only find Tiffany’s, Armani, or Saks but also American Girl Place. A huge shop with everything a little doll mommy’s heart desires. Here you can put together a doll that looks like you. In addition, the child and doll can also purchase the same outfit.
The largest candy store in New York can be found north of Times Square (1600 Broadway). It’s M & M’s World, where 72 huge tubes are filled with M & M’s. South of Times Square (1501 Broadway) is the Hard Rock Café, where you can buy popular T-shirts. This is how New York is fun with kids.

Free entry is rarely available in New York, but for example at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab (Madison Avenue / 56th Street). Here you can experiment, meet robots, take part in television production or develop your own computer game.
A little further away is the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey. There are exciting exhibitions on skyscrapers, the Hudson, communication, and food. The “I Explore” exhibition is only intended for children under 6 years of age.
And how about a trip to Coney Island in Brooklyn? There is not only a beautiful beach here but also an amusement park. In Deno’s Wonderwheel Amusement Park you can not only ride the eponymous Ferris wheel. The New York Aquarium is also located on Coney Island.
