At this 1,600 km long road trip along the North Atlantic coast, their historic regions, villages, and some of the most famous US metropolises are experiencing. 


The journey leads from Boston, one of America’s oldest cities, to the state capital Washington, D.C. Look forward to picturesque landscapes and pulsating big cities on the east coast and thus receive a cross-section through the most important events of American history. You should have this: comfortable running shoes, interest in American history, and an additional memory card for your camera!

Boston, Massachusetts

Stick your trip to Boston, Massachusetts. 

From Freedom Trail to Boston Tea Party – at the step and occurs in this fascinating city Milestones of American history. But that’s not all: You can visit the seal in the New England aquarium a visit to take part in a tour of breweries or watch the sights as part of the famous Boston Duck Tour on land and to water. On the way to the south, a detour to the near Cape Cod is worthwhile. The peninsula attracts lovely beach towns, delicious native seafood, and the unmistakable architecture of New England.

Newport, Rhode Island

Newport, Rhode Island was in the 19th century of the preferred summer seat of prominent wealthy families such as the Vanderbilts or the Astors, which escaped here on the coast of stuffy heat in the cities of this area. 

Magnificent villas are still preserved and can be visited. On the onward journey along the coast of Connecticut offers to make MYSTIC Seaport Station at the open-air museum, to admire the world’s largest collection of historical boats and ships. Only 8 km away east is the barely known Stonington with tree-lined streets, captain houses. The former whaling and shipbuilding center is still largely as much as a hundred years ago.

New York City, New York

From the Statue of Liberty about the shopping district Soho to the theaters on Broadway and Times Square: The glittering metropolis of New York City is literally bursting in front of famous sights. 

In fine weather, you can easily stroll through Central Park and visit the Natural History Museum on the western end of the park or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, opposite the east side. Absolutely recommended are the popular high line park and a ramble through the numerous delicatessen shops and cafes, in which you would of course also order the famous New York Cheesecake!

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The absolute compulsory program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, includes a visit to Liberty Bell, the symbol of American independence. 

The Ritten House Square, one of five parks created at the end of the 17th century, invites you to linger and relax. Many visitors take the 72 steps before the entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the ride – a tribute to the famous scene from the Oscar-winning movie “Rocky”, in which the victorious Boxer Rocky Balboa tower the free staircase. 

Atlantic City, New Jersey


Atlantic City on the coast of New Jersey is known for its beach and the waterfront. 

You can taste saltwater toffee and other local specialties, participate in a whale watching tour or also try your playback in one of the casino hotels that can easily take it with those in Las Vegas. Unless you have enough time, a day trip to the coast of Delaware is worthwhile, where it is also tax-free (!) Shopping offers to discover next to clean beaches. After resting something on the beach of Rehoboth Beach, you certainly have enough energy to go bargain hunting in the brand shops of the Tangier Outlets.

Ocean City, Maryland

Ocean City

Ocean City, Maryland, enthusiastic with spectacular views over the 16 km long beach where riding, kayak or jet skiing, surfing, swimming or just representing the legs and admire the picturesque coastal landscape. If you are not in a hurry, you can translate to Assateague Island, an island nearby, which is famous for your freely scouring wild ponies.

Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, Virginia

On the onward trip worth a short detour to Virginia Beach, Virginia. 

In addition to family-friendly holiday destinations, there are also fantastic opportunities to observe dolphins and whales. Not far away is Williamsburg founded in the colonial period? The excellently restored Colonial Williamsburg – the largest and most popular open-air museum of the United States and one of the best museums of this kind worldwide – gave you straight back to the 18th century. 

Last stop prior to arrival in Washington, D.C., Mount Vernon, the former country estate of the first US President George Washington. On the 200 hectare estate at Alexandria, Virginia, there is an actively managed farm with animals, well-kept gardens, and a reconstructed, sixteen-sided barn to discover – and last but not least the impressive view over the Potomac River.

In Washington, D.C., the endpoint is your journey. From the legendary skyline of the US capital, famous buildings such as the Washington Monument or Jefferson emerge memorial. 

Countless museums, monuments, and statues document the fascinating history of the United States of America. But in no case forgot the obligatory selfie at the White House. “DC”, as the locals call their city short, but also has a lively gastronomy and shopping scene. Take time to enjoy the world-class dishes of heavy-sights at the Logan Circle, browse in the nice shops of Georgetown and examine the local produce on the Eastern Market.
