JPMorgan Chase has officially opened its new 60-story global headquarters at 270 Park Avenue, a landmark all-electric tower designed by Foster + Partners. The 1,388-foot skyscraper is New York City’s largest building powered entirely by renewable energy, aiming for net-zero operational emissions.

A New Icon on Park Avenue

NEW YORK – A new sustainable landmark has redefined a full city block in Midtown Manhattan. On October 21, 2025, JPMorgan Chase unveiled its new global headquarters at 270 Park Avenue. Designed by the acclaimed architectural firm Foster + Partners, the 60-story skyscraper stands 1,388 feet (423.1 meters) tall, making it the city’s largest all-electric tower powered exclusively by renewable energy sources.

The building introduces a striking presence at street level. Its base is lifted 80 feet off the ground, supported by an innovative system of fan-shaped columns and triangular bracing. This design creates a spacious public plaza with green spaces, widening the sidewalks and establishing an uninterrupted visual corridor between Park and Madison Avenues. This approach to integrating public and private space addresses one of the key challenges of dense urban development.

Designing for the Future of Work

The interiors, with significant contributions from design firm Gensler across 1.7 million square feet, are crafted to promote collaboration, health, and wellness. The tower features a double-height lobby, expansive trading floors, and a central triple-height communal hub known as “the Exchange.” Sustainability is a core principle, with the structure using hydro-powered energy, triple-pane glazing for efficiency, and a circadian lighting system that mimics natural daylight patterns. It delivers double the required outdoor air ventilation, aiming for both LEED Platinum and WELL Health-Safety certifications.

“This project represents a workplace of the future designed for today,” stated Norman Foster, founder of Foster + Partners. He emphasized that the design provides two and a half times more public space at ground level than the previous building on the site.

The new headquarters is a significant addition to the city’s famous cityscape, joining other iconic elements of the skyline. Stefanie Shunk, Design Director at Gensler, added, “JPMorgan Chase Tower signals the future of workplace design, and it all starts with the individual and creating a sense of belonging.”

The completion of 270 Park Avenue not only provides JPMorgan Chase with a state-of-the-art facility but also sets a new global standard for sustainable high-rise construction and corporate responsibility in urban architecture.
