Baltimore

Baltimore is the capital of the US state of Maryland with a long and distinguished history. It’s a little bit like Boston and yet it has its own unique charm.

Baltimore landed on our itinerary for the first time during our tour along the east coast of the USA. Due to its location by the sea, it has its very own charm and is particularly interesting for those who already know Boston and Washington. From New York, you can be in Baltimore in just under 3 hours. In terms of time, it makes no difference whether you travel by rental car or train.

  • Top of the World Observation Level.
  • National Aquarium at the harbor.
  • Sailing tour.
  • Port Discovery Children’s Museum.
  • M&T Bank Stadium.
  • The Little Italy district.

The Rusty Scupper Restaurant & Bar on the harbor is also really great – and like New York, there are great helicopter flights in Baltimore, from which you can see the main attractions from above.

Albany is the capital of New York and is not only the oldest city in the state but also one of the oldest in the nation. English immigrants took control of Albany, NY in 1664 and named it after the Duke of Albany. In the early 1800s, the city was the tenth-largest in the country – a title adopted by San Jose, CA. The region’s growth was spurred by the construction of the Erie Canal and railroad, and the city remained a major transportation hub through the early 1900s.


So as you can see, this area has a lot of history and there are many attractions that offer great learning experiences for newcomers. Today around 100,000 people live in the capital and university town and there is something for everyone.

Rockaway Beach

Day trip to Queens

A little over 20 miles from Manhattan is Rockaway Beach in Queens. Although known only as Rockaway Beach, this destination includes several beaches between 3rd Street and 153rd Street. Considered the best beach near New York City, it’s well worth the hour-long subway ride from downtown Manhattan.

If you visit this area in the high season, from late May through Labor Day, expect plenty of surfers, swimmers, and sunbathers enjoying the water and sun. Although it’s most popular in the summer, Rockaway Beach is a refreshing place year-round.

  • Enjoy the invigorating smell of the sea while walking along the sandy beaches.
  • Stop for a drink or snack at one of the many food stalls or casual spots along the Beach Boardwalk.
  • Go on a journey of discovery and explore some abandoned buildings.

Weekend Getaway to the Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes region of New York includes an area of 11 lakes in an area that was once covered by glaciers. In addition to the lakes, this region is also home to many natural pools, canyons, waterfalls, wineries, and state parks. The two most popular lakes are the deepest and largest: Cayuga Lake is 130 meters deep and is located in Ithaca, while Seneca Lake is 190 meters deep and is located in Watkins Glen State Park.

Considered by many to be the most underrated part of New York, it makes a great day trip outside of New York City. The region is perfect for almost everyone as there is plenty to see and do here.
